Gloves Paddles

The craftspeople at Ouje-Bougoumou are renowned for their skills. They demonstrate their talents beautifully in their works of beaded moccasins, hand embroidered shoulder bags and knapsacks, mittens, boots, bracelets, and snowshoes. Anna Bosum coordinates the production and sales of the crafts, and organizes teaching sessions within the community.

Sculptor Jossie Shecapio-Blacksmith and his nephew Willie trained with professional carver Detleff Freese in Bracebridge, Ontario. Continuing a tradition practised by his father, Jossie began carving 7 years ago. His beautiful geese are sold at competitive prices before they are completed.

Maggie Wapachee
Maggie Wapachee is a highly regarded local artisan who receives many requests from visitors to Oujé-Bougoumou for her mocassins and mittens. She often can be found at the Cultural Village making her crafts. Mocassins
