The craftspeople
at Ouje-Bougoumou are renowned for their skills. They demonstrate their talents
beautifully in their works of beaded moccasins, hand embroidered shoulder
bags and knapsacks,
mittens, boots,
bracelets, and snowshoes. Anna Bosum coordinates the production and sales of
the crafts, and organizes teaching sessions within the community.

Sculptor Jossie
Shecapio-Blacksmith and his nephew Willie trained with professional carver
Detleff Freese in Bracebridge, Ontario. Continuing a tradition practised by his
father, Jossie began carving 7 years ago. His beautiful geese are sold at
competitive prices before they are completed. |

Maggie Wapachee
is a highly regarded local artisan who receives many requests from visitors to
Oujé-Bougoumou for her mocassins and mittens. She often can be found at
the Cultural Village making her crafts. |
