Rachel Etapp

Hi Everyone! Welcome to my very own Webpage. Neat eh? For those of you who wish to get to know me, besides looking at my picture, I suppose I can tell you a little bit about myself, so here it goes.

Well as you can see I wear glasses, it goes with the "sophisticated college look". I attend Dawson College in Montreal and I'll be starting my second year in Business Administration this coming August. Montreal can be a pretty hectic place compared to this little quiet village where I am now, a.k.a Ouje-Bougoumou. This is my home. My classmate once asked me "What is there to do up there?" I suppose she thought it was a boring place to be.Well there might not be any theatres, shopping malls or amusement parks but you don't need all that to have fun, there is plenty to do. My weekly activities include jogging, rollerblading, bicycling and plenty of time visiting friends. But then again, you'll find me doing these things only if I'm not too lazy.

As you can probably tell I'm native, to be precise I'm Cree. The Cree Nation of Northern Quebec consists of nine communities, Ouje-Bougoumou being it's most recently built village. The reason for that is because most of the people who now make up the population had been left in the dark in the past with no community to call their own. The people either lived in Chibougamau, other towns and some chose to live in the bush. It took some time, but the village is about five years old now.

It may interest you to know that Douglas Cardinal, the architect who designed the Museum of Civilization in Hull is the one who designed our village also. Our village is beautiful and there is no other place I would make my home. .

I'd like to finish by letting those who are still with me in on a little personal information about myself, I'm crazy about Karl, my husband and of course I've been a loyal fan of the famous soap opera "Days of our Lives" since I was 10 years old. By the way, I have to add this, Peter here tells me that "Sami" is not evil, just misunderstood. Yeah right! Time to go. Bye everyone!

I have to add that this picture was taken by Peter Pronovost, a Mohawk and computer consultant from Kahnawake." A hell of a nice guy!"
